Why Sterling Silver is a Timeless Beauty

In my jewelry making journey, I tried working with many different metals and they all led me back to one specific metal, sterling silver.

As I sat there and looked at my jewelry collection since I was young, all my jewelry was sterling silver. There’s a reason why top jewelry designers choose this metal. It is malleable and versatile. What’s in it for you?

  1. DURABILITY - it can withstand the test of time while keeping its endless beauty. With proper storage and care, your jewelry will look the same decades from now. It is also very easy to clean!

  2. VERSATILITY - You can wear it day or night, at work or for a special occasion. Some people feel gold jewelry is too flashy, but everyone loves sterling silver jewelry. You can buy delicate pieces or statement making ones. The choice is yours.

  3. AFFORDABILITY - Does anyone want to spend thousands for every piece of jewelry? Not me. Luckily, you can find affordable pieces for every budget and know that you will have it for years to come. Own a few staple pieces or endless matching sets, it is up to you.

For that reason, I decided to bring you new jewelry creations made of sterling silver or vermeil (18 or 24kt gold plated sterling silver). Here is just one example and make sure to check out the full collection here.

Pantone Winter Color of the Year 2018-19

Every year, I wait for the moment the power house, Pantone, announces the color of the year. Why? It is time to play...with my jewelry beads that is. The good news? House of Zada is based on a timeless era where the colors never really go out of style, but it gets even more exciting when you see that your line already reflects THE color of the year.

So what is main color for Winter 2018-2019? Ultra violet.

Historically, the color purple has been associated with the sign of power, royalty and great personalities. The pop icon Prince made the color purple synonymous with his name reflecting his individuality and creative genius. Cleopatra's Egyptian palace, couches and even body was covered with it. So why is it so unique?

The history of the color dates back thousands of years when it was extracted from a rare shellfish. At the time, technology didn't exist and you couldn't replicate or imitate many things. The use of the color extracted was sold to the very rich and reserved for the powerful figures. Throughout the years, emperors and painters continued to use it as a sign of hierarchy, rich culture and art.

Ultra violet is a shade of purple with a blue undertone. The beauty? it signifies imagination, innovation and a color for the curious. The night sky appears completely blue to the human eye, but it actually has lots of purple. Just like the sky represents mystery, so does the freedom in the color ultra violet.

New Arrival - Labradorite and Turquoise Vermeil Gemstone Earrings

What can you wear with your basics white, black, grey and navy in addition to red, orange and yellow top/dress? A labradorite and turquoise earring. That’s right. Although I think a good pair of plain gold or silver earring should be a staple in every woman’s closet, a versatile piece with a pop of color is just as essential.

This perfect combo gives you endless possibilities without being overwhelming or ‘flashy’. The blue/greenish and grey hues of this labradorite stone make it subtle yet unique in how it reflects light. Labradorite is thought to have protective properties and helps its wearer discover the unknown.

The turquoise piece? It is your own piece of royalty. Thousands of years ago, the pharaohs decided to include turquoise in most of their jewelry as a sign of their status. Now you have a piece of one of the most coveted stones.

What Happened to Your Jewelry?

Did you just stop doing it? Do you not enjoy it anymore? Was it not doing well? These are the questions I keep hearing over and over since my hiatus which is almost for 2 years now.

The good news? I still love my gemstones and will never get sick of it and I will continue to grow your obsession for turquoise jewels. The bad news?  The initial fall was due to health reasons in my family that have been thankfully resolved for some time now.  One thing for sure, what this hiatus made me do, is take a step back and look at everything that I was making.

Everything I knew was self taught through trial and error and countless videos. Despite being featured in 3 major magazines, I felt there was room to grow to bring you something truly unique. For that reason, I decided to enroll and complete a jewelry design course based out of NYC to help me create your next favorite jewelry piece.

The course took some time (way more than the 170 hours listed), my projects got lost in the mail a few times, I had to redo some others to show proficiency, but it was all worth it!

So what's next? I am super excited to bring some new skills and style aesthetic to my designs to help you truly stand out. More statement looks for the fast paced girl in your life.

Thanks to each one of you for always pushing me and believing in me :-) Exciting new arrivals coming very soon!

Pantone Color of the Year 2016- Serenity & Rose Quartz

Have you heard? It is the first time ever that Pantone announced not just one color for a new year but TWO. What does that mean for you? Two new ways for you to be in style for this season. Maybe pinks aren't your favorite but blues are, no need to worry.

At House of Zada, I am very excited because I already include a lot of darker blue hues in my line, but this color is so fresh and timeless. The best part is that the two colors flow together seamlessly. Combine variations of these two colors in your next eyeshadow look, dress, handbag and of course jewels.

Check out one of my newest arrivals combining these two colors. Guaranteed you will love it. See for yourself here
