Do you remember the last time you were so confident that you felt you can conquer the world?
That is what jewelry does for me on a daily basis.
Born and raised in Egypt, I was surrounded by plenty of chunky jewels and statement creations (I can certainly thank the pharaohs for that). This sparked an interest in vibrant and bold jewelry pieces from a very young age.
What I was also surrounded with, were a LOT of expectations to be perfect. I went to an all girls school and it was always a competition. Best hair, best body, best style and your brains got lost in the middle of all that.
Although I was never considered overweight growing up, in fact I was on the skinnier end, I did have the tiniest tummy. Guess what? There was this one girl, that I happened to think was SO perfect, that kept picking on me for it.
Now we all know uniforms are not forgiving so no matter how I tried to work with the style portion of things, I failed. BUT, I knew that I probably had one of the biggest jewelry collections of any young kid. So I thought to myself, well what if I wear different jewelry everyday. THAT will make my outfit.
Guess what? It worked! For so long I was so focused on adjusting my uniform and maybe straightening my crazy tight curly hair to deter this girl from pointing my tiniest belly out. All it took was a pair of dangly earrings and she literally went “oh, those are different’.’ Every single day I would rotate my jewelry collection to the point she forgot about my little belly.
From that point on, jewelry became my armor. This girl messed with my head for all the wrong reasons and although it should not have bothered me as much as it did, it helped me find my signature.
You know how they say give a girl the right pair of heels and she can conquer the world? Well, at the House of Zada, I believe that if you give a girl the right piece of jewelry, she can conquer the world. That is my drive behind each piece I design. I want to give you that same boost of confidence and daring feeling I get every time I put on a piece of jewelry yet maintain high quality to last for years to come.
I hope you enjoy the jewelry as much as I do and just remember, do not let anyone define how you feel on any given day.
